Best Costa Rica Travel was founded by Katy Villa and Jimmy Alvarado. Katy brings a background working with National Geographic / Lindblad Expeditions — designing the kind of naturalist-led, land-extension experiences that set the standard for the industry. Jimmy brings 26+ years as a field naturalist guide and 10+ years of hands-on work in regenerative soil recovery and conservation — work that has led our company to plant more than 5,000 trees across Costa Rica.

That same standard shapes every trip we design today: guided by qualified naturalists, grounded in real knowledge of Costa Rica's ecosystems, communities, and processes — from cloud forest birding to the coffee production chain.
